From addressing food insecurity to honoring our military and first responders, the Foundation’s support provides crucial services in a wide variety of ways to individuals and organizations throughout our community.

Senior Smiles

In 2022, the Mets launched Senior Smiles, an event series focused on providing support, resources, and activities that bring joy to the older adults in our community. As part of the program, the Mets partner with various non-profit organizations and host interactive events at their centers. Since its launch, Mets Front Office staff have volunteered and hosted events such as bingo, fitness classes, meal delivery and service, holiday card making and an art course.

Since its inception, the Mets have partnered with Carter Burden Network, City Parks Foundation, Chinese American Planning Council, and Encore to host engaging events and activities for older adults in the Tri-State area.

To complement the program, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation has funded grants to local organizations that support and provide resources to low-income older adults.

Service Drives

Summer and MetsGiving Food Drives

The Mets partner with local nonprofit organizations to help collect non-perishable food items for underserved New Yorkers. Individuals who visit Citi Field with at least 10 non-perishable items receive one voucher redeemable for two tickets to select Monday – Thursday home games during the season. At past events, the Foundation has received help from Mets Owner and President of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation Alex Cohen, Mr. & Mrs. Met, the Mets Wives and Girlfriends, and manager Carlos Mendoza.

The Mets Summer Food Drive, presented by 1PointFive, will take place on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2. For more information, please visit: Mets.com/FoodDrive.

Winter Coat Drive

Warm hearts, warm coats.

Each winter, the Mets team up with New York Cares and your local Toyota dealers to host the annual Winter Coat Drive at Citi Field—helping ensure New Yorkers in need stay warm during the coldest months of the year.

In 2024, fans came through in a big way—donating a record 2,509 new or gently used coats. With help from Mr. and Mrs. Met and a team of dedicated New York Cares volunteers, the coats were sorted and delivered to shelters and community organizations across the city. Donors received a thank-you voucher for Mets tickets and an exclusive discount at the Mets Team Store.

Beyond the annual drive, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation deepens its impact through support of New York Cares’ Coats Plus campaign, which provides both a new winter coat and ten meals for every $25 donation. Since 2021, the Foundation’s grant has helped deliver 2,000 new coats and 20,000 meals to New Yorkers facing hardship.

Because when temperatures drop, our commitment to community rises.

MetsGiving

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation funds and hosts various events throughout the holiday season to give back to those most in need during the winter months.

Turkey Giveaway

Each year, in advance of Thanksgiving, the Foundation sponsors a Turkey Giveaway and distributes turkeys to families in need across all five boroughs. Since its inception, the Foundation has purchased 19,000 turkeys through grants, which are then distributed by local food pantries and organizations throughout New York City with the help of Mets players and front office staff.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation distributed 8,500 turkeys to New Yorkers in need ahead of Thanksgiving as part of their tenth annual MetsGiving Turkey Giveaway, presented by your local Toyota dealers. New York Mets legend John Franco joined Mr. and Mrs. Met to help distribute the turkeys at the various community partner locations on November 22. Individuals receiving the turkeys were also given a voucher for tickets to select Mets home games in 2025 and a MetsGiving tote bag.

The Foundation partnered with a network of 20 community partners across New York City for the giveaway.

Toyota generously provided transportation to enable Front Office staff volunteers to assist with in-person distributions across all five boroughs, featuring locations such as Queens Community Justice Center, New York Common Pantry in Manhattan, Part of the Solution in the Bronx, Project Hospitality in Staten Island, and Maimonides Park in Brooklyn.

Amazin’ Mets Foundation Holiday Dinner, Presented by Delta Air Lines

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation partners with Delta Air Lines to host a holiday dinner for local families in need. Since 2023, the Foundation has collaborated with Sunnyside Community Services in Queens to serve meals to over 300 individuals and distribute gifts to children. Mets third baseman Mark Vientos, Francis Mendoza, wife of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, and Mr. & Mrs. Met have all participated in the event, supporting the Foundation’s mission to ensure every family enjoys a joyful holiday season.

New York Mets Annual Kids Holiday Party

The Mets host an annual Kids Holiday Party at Citi Field with students from local Title 1 schools in Queens to celebrate the holiday season. Children enjoy a holiday lunch, play games with Mr. & Mrs. Met and receive gifts from Santa and his elves. In 2024, Mets alum Todd Zeile took on the role of Santa Claus and was joined by two elves, pitcher Reed Garrett and his wife, Mary, who distributed gifts to each child.

Military & First Responders

The Mets work closely with first responders, branches of the military, and nonprofit organizations to honor and support those who have dedicated their lives to serving our city and country.

MetsVetDog

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation has awarded grants to various organizations to support military related causes and veteran service organizations, including America’s VetDogs – a service dog program that was created to provide enhanced mobility and renewed independence to veterans, active-duty service members and first responders with varying abilities, allowing them to once again live with pride and self-reliance. With Foundation funding, the Mets adopted the MetsVetDog, Buddy. Buddy completed his basic training during the 2025 season and entered formal training in May to become a service dog for a veteran or first responder in need.

Military & Veterans Summit

The New York Mets invite transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses to take part in an invaluable opportunity to help set them up for success with the next stage of their lives. The Military & Veterans Summit is an all-day event at Citi Field and contains a variety of resources that help with different aspects of transitioning into civilian life.

Military Softball Classic

Each year the Mets host the Military Softball Classic at Citi Field. This exciting event brings members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard together for a spirited round-robin softball tournament in the outfield at Citi Field.

9/11 Remembrance

The Mets have been committed to remembering and honoring the lives of those impacted on September 11, 2001. Every September, the organization continues their longstanding tradition of firehouse and precinct visits in honor of the anniversary of September 11.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation have honored first responders and 9/11 focused organizations with grants to the following: Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center, Tuesday’s Children, Answer the Call, the FDNY Foundation, and the New York City Police Foundation.
