Senior Smiles

Launched in 2022, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s Senior Smiles program was created to provide support, resources, and activities that bring joy to older adults in our community.

As part of the program, the Foundation engages with local nonprofit organizations and hosts interactive events at their centers such as games of bingo, meal service, and art and fitness classes.

To complement these efforts, the Foundation has supported grantees such as Encore Community Services, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Carter Burden Network, and the City Parks Foundation to help expand access to resources for low-income older adults.

Service Drives

Summer and MetsGiving Food Drives

To combat food insecurity across New York City, each year the Mets host two food drives – in the summer and offseason – with the help of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, Mets family volunteers, hunger relief-based community partners, and loyal Mets fans. For more information about the Summer and MetsGiving Food Drives, please click here.

Winter Coat Drive

Since the winter of 2016, the Mets have teamed up with New York Cares to host their annual Coat Drive at Citi Field. All fans who donate new or gently used coats are eligible to receive a voucher for Mets tickets during the upcoming season. For more information about the Winter Coat Drive, please click here.

Because when temperatures drop, our commitment to community rises.

MetsGiving

When the holidays roll around, it marks the beginning of MetsGiving season. MetsGiving brings together Mets front office staff, corporate partners, coaches, players – both past and present – and fans to give back and assist underserved members of the community.

Turkey Giveaway

Each year, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation brings the spirit of the season to life through its citywide Turkey Giveaway, a cornerstone of MetsGiving.

Since 2021, the Foundation has donated over 25,000 turkeys, helping ensure that families across all five boroughs can gather around the table and share a warm meal during the holiday season.

To maximize its reach and impact, the Foundation collaborates with a wide network of community organizations to distribute turkeys and offer additional holiday resources. These efforts reflect the Foundation’s deep and ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity and supporting New Yorkers in meaningful, lasting ways.

Amazin’ Mets Foundation Holiday Dinner

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation proudly supports local families by hosting annual holiday dinners at Sunnyside Community Services in Queens.

These events offer a warm, festive experience for individuals and families facing hardship, creating a sense of joy, unity, and celebration. Volunteers, including front office staff, corporate partners, Mets players and families, and Mr. & Mrs. Met help serve meals to hundreds of attendees and distribute gifts to each child in attendance.

Annual Kids Holiday Party

Each year, the Mets host a Kids Holiday Party at Citi Field, welcoming students from local Title 1 schools in Queens to celebrate the season in a fun and festive atmosphere. Children enjoy a holiday lunch, play games with Mr. and Mrs. Met, perform a holiday song, and receive gifts from Santa and his elves.

Military & First Responders

The Mets work closely with first responders, branches of the military, and nonprofit organizations to honor and support those who have dedicated their lives to serving our city and country.

MetsVetDog

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation has awarded grants to various organizations to support military related causes and veteran service organizations, including America’s VetDogs – a service dog program that was created to provide enhanced mobility and renewed independence to veterans, active-duty service members and first responders with varying abilities, allowing them to once again live with pride and self-reliance. With Foundation funding, the Mets adopted the MetsVetDog, Buddy. Buddy completed his basic training during the 2025 season and entered formal training in May to become a service dog for a veteran or first responder in need.

You can follow @AmazinMetsFdn on Facebook, Instagram, and X for updates on our MetsVetDog!

Military & Veterans Summit

The New York Mets invite transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses to take part in an invaluable opportunity to help set them up for success with the next stage of their lives. The Military & Veterans Summit is an all-day event at Citi Field and contains a variety of resources that help with different aspects of transitioning into civilian life.

Military Softball Classic

Each year the Mets host the Military Softball Classic at Citi Field. This exciting event brings members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard together for a spirited round-robin softball tournament in the outfield at Citi Field.

9/11 Remembrance

The Mets have been committed to remembering and honoring the lives of those impacted on September 11, 2001. Every September, the organization continues their longstanding tradition of firehouse and precinct visits in honor of the anniversary of September 11.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation have honored first responders and 9/11 focused organizations with grants to the following: Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center, Tuesday’s Children, Answer the Call, the FDNY Foundation, and the New York City Police Foundation.
