Ya Gotta Read!
The Mets launched Ya Gotta Read! in 2017 to foster a lifelong love of reading in students. Regular reading is linked to academic success, expanded vocabulary and knowledge, improved attention span and memory, and increased curiosity and imagination.
In partnership with the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and Delta Air Lines, the program has grown to reach tens of thousands of students across dozens of elementary schools in Queens and Brooklyn.
Each year, the Mets and Delta challenge students to read for 20 minutes every school night over a six-week period, coinciding with Spring Training. The more minutes students read, the more Mets-themed prizes they earn, turning reading into a rewarding and motivating experience.
Students hit reading milestones tied to baseball achievements, earning fun rewards like bookmarks, plush keychains, color-in wall pennants, and Mets tickets. Top readers at each school receive special recognition, including field-level tickets, gift cards, and a moment on the Citi Field Jumbotron. The class that reads the most at each school also wins a special prize.
Ya Gotta Read! continues to make reading fun and engaging for students throughout New York City.

STEM in Baseball
The Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s STEM in Baseball program delivers an innovative approach to STEM education by connecting the fundamentals of baseball with essential science, technology, engineering, and math concepts. Designed to inspire students and support educators, the program provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences that make STEM subjects relevant, fun, and accessible for students throughout New York City.
The Foundation works with Science of Sport to train 80 math and science teachers annually, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to bring sports-based STEM lessons into their classrooms. Each educator receives access to an online portal with standards-aligned lessons, worksheets, and digital resources, along with a comprehensive STEM Kit that includes both classroom materials and sporting equipment.
The program reaches approximately 8,000 students each year, providing opportunities to explore physics, engineering, and math through baseball-themed challenges that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. As part of the program, AMF and Science of Sport visit participating schools to bring the curriculum directly into classrooms, delivering hands-on STEM programming in dynamic, real-world contexts.
CASE Study Program
Careers as Sports Executives (CASE) was founded in 2018 by baseball leaders Theo Epstein, Scott Harris, and Meghan Jones with the goal of creating a comprehensive sports executive program for high school students passionate about sports – and potentially pursuing careers in the industry – but who lack the resources or opportunities to gain the training, experience, and mentorship needed to enter the field.
The CASE Study Program offers students the chance to develop a deep understanding of the sports industry while building valuable professional connections. With courses covering topics like “Sports Analytics & Data,” “Sport for Social Good,” and “Facilities & Stadium Operations,” the Amazin’ Mets Foundation CASE Program provides a broad and insightful curriculum designed to guide students in both their personal and professional growth.
The program begins with a special kickoff event at the Mets offices, featuring a behind-the-scenes tour led by a Mets staff member. Over the course of eight virtual sessions, students engage in a multimedia curriculum led by industry professionals, exploring key aspects of the sports business. The experience culminates in student-led group presentations and a celebration of their achievements at a Mets game.
The Amazin’ Mets Foundation partners with local schools to bring CASE to students across Queens, helping to ensure that future sports leaders reflect the diversity and passion of the communities they serve.
