Ya Gotta Read!
The Mets launched Ya Gotta Read! in 2017 to foster a lifelong love of reading in students. Regular reading is linked to academic success, expanded vocabulary and knowledge, improved attention span and memory, and increased curiosity and imagination.
In partnership with the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and Delta Air Lines, the program has grown to reach tens of thousands of students across dozens of elementary schools in Queens and Brooklyn. Each year, the Mets and Delta challenge students to read for 20 minutes every school night over a six-week period, coinciding with Mets Spring Training. The more minutes students read, the more Mets-themed prizes they earn—turning reading into a rewarding and motivating experience.
Students hit reading milestones tied to baseball achievements, earning fun rewards like bookmarks, plush keychains, color-in wall pennants, and Mets tickets. Top readers at each school receive special recognitions, including field-level tickets, gift cards, and a moment on the Citi Field Jumbotron. The class that reads the most at each school also wins a special prize.
Ya Gotta Read! continues to make reading fun and engaging for students throughout New York City. For more information or to learn how your school can participate, please email [email protected] or call 718-565-4321.
STEM Programs
Math Hits
The Amazin’ Mets Foundation and Learn Fresh have teamed up to present Math Hits, a program designed to build on students’ love of baseball and broaden their math and STEM-related skills.
Students from New York City public schools and afterschool programs take part in a variety of activities that teach children preparation tips for success in school and in their future careers, as well as an interactive fantasy baseball tournament with important math principles, which enhances students’ foundational math skills.
Science Series
The Science Series program was created to provide science curriculum to schools that is related to the everyday operations of Citi Field. The Amazin’ Mets Foundation partners with Learn Fresh, a nonprofit that aims to leverage students’ passion for sports and entertainment to inspire their STEM and social-emotional learning. Schools participating in the Science Series program get an exclusive Mets-focused science curriculum to implement in their classrooms. The Mets provide teachers with six lesson plan topics to implement over the course of six months.

CASE Study Program
Careers as Sports Executives (CASE) was founded in 2018 by baseball leaders Theo Epstein, Scott Harris, and Meghan Jones with the goal of creating a comprehensive sports executive program for high school students passionate about sports – and potentially pursuing careers in the industry – but who lack the resources or opportunities to gain the training, experience, and mentorship needed to enter the field.
The CASE Study Program offers students the chance to develop a deep understanding of the sports industry while building valuable professional connections. With courses covering topics like “Sports Analytics & Data,” “Sport for Social Good,” and “Facilities & Stadium Operations,” the Amazin’ Mets Foundation CASE Program provides a broad and insightful curriculum designed to guide students in both their personal and professional growth.
Over the course of two months, CASE participants kick off the program with a special event at Mets Offices, featuring a guided tour led by a Mets employee. They then engage in an 8-session multimedia curriculum, delivered virtually by industry experts, covering a wide range of sports topics. The program concludes with student-led group presentations on one of the curriculum topics, followed by a celebration of their achievements at a Mets game.
In 2025, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation partnered with Bayside High School to bring CASE to 27 students.
