Ya Gotta Read! – Read Across America Day

All Day

The New York Mets and Delta Air Lines have partnered on the Ya Gotta Read! program to help foster a love of reading in students. We want children to be excited to read, and we hope the appeal of the Mets
and the potential to win prizes will help make them lifelong readers.
Ya Gotta Read! launches on February 13 to coincide with the start of Mets Spring Training and will last for six weeks. The goal is for each student to read 20 minutes every weeknight during the program.

As part of the program, Delta employees will volunteer to read to students at P.S. 97 to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day. Volunteers will pair up and conduct a read aloud with students in grades 15 taking part in Ya Gotta Read! in over 20 different classrooms. The volunteers will each read a Dr. Seuss Book and then answer questions from the students about their jobs at the Delta. Each visit will last approximately 25 minutes.
